    Dermatologist & Mohs Surgeon

    Dr. Gurgen is one of a select few Board Certified Dermatologic Surgeons in the Nation to be Double Certified in Mohs Micrographic Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology, and the American Society of Mohs Surgery. Prior to establishing his practice, Dr. Gurgen worked exclusively as a Mohs Micrographic Surgeon where he performed Thousands of Mohs Surgeries, placing him in the top 1% of all Mohs Micrographic Surgeons in the Nation. Dr. Gurgen has also been called to perform Mohs Micrographic Surgery for Top Oculoplastic Reconstructive Plastic Surgeons, where he performed the most delicate removal and reconstruction of facial and ocular skin cancers. Dr. Gurgen is also involved in new research and journal publications in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. He has written research articles for the top Dermatological journals in the world including: The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, British Journal of Dermatology, Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology, and Dermatologic Surgery. Besides his extensive qualifications and experience in Mohs Microgtraphic Surgery, Dr. Gurgen has also been chosen by his patients for two Nationally Recognized Awards: “Most Compassionate Doctor Award” and “The Patients Choice Award” for exceptional quality of care, and patient centered approach that Dr. Gurgen and his staff provides.

    Michael Gurgen, ARNP is a Board Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) who has been personally trained in the field of Dermatology and Skin Care by Dr. Johnny Gurgen. Michael practices in the same philosophy and patient care approach as Dr. Gurgen provides to his patients. Michael received his first Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from William Paterson University in New Jersey. After completing his first degree, he went on to complete a Bachelor Science degree in nursing graduating with top honors in his class, Magna Cum Laude. He then went on to complete his training at South University where he received his Master of Science degree in Nursing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, graduating again with top honors. Michael is a member of he American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and was inducted into The Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau International due to his academic success and integrity. Michael is very compassionate and dedicated to provide the best care for his patients. In his spare time he likes to travel, participate in various outdoor activities, and spend time with those closest to him.

    John E. Kelly is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who has been trained in the field of Dermatology and Skin Care by Dr. Johnny Gurgen. He practices in the same philosophy and patient care approach as Dr. Gurgen provides to his patients. John is a life-long resident of Citrus County where he attended Citrus High School. After graduation, he attended the College of Central Florida where he earned his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. He worked in the EMS field for 10 years. From there, he continued his education at the University of Florida where he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors. After earning his Bachelor's Degree, John became a high school Chemistry teacher and taught for 12 years. During his teaching career at Crystal River High School, he also coached football and enjoyed serving as the team's medic. John's passion and desire to become a Physician Assistant led him to continue his education at Nova Southeastern University in Orlando, where he earned his Master's Degree in Medical Science - Physician Assistant. John currently lives in Inverness with his lovely wife and their Labrador retriever. He enjoys spending time his family and friends. John's favorite hobbies are hunting, fishing and football. He and his wife have been Gator Boosters since 2002 and enjoy attending the Gator Football games every Fall.
